Production & Operations - Agronomic production

Main Goal

To manage and direct the commercial and parent seed production in California, ensuring that all genetic quality, quantity and time requirements are met for the assigned productions.

Job description

Directly responsible for the planning, placement, and production of all varieties requested to be produced within the area of responsibility while maintaining the quality standards of HM.Clause.

Essential duties and responsibilities:
• Manage all commercial and parent seed production representatives and activities in assigned region to ensure that the company objectives are met within the scope of the area.
• Oversee and help to drive the production plan according to the quantity and quality requirements, cost, and deadlines established by the Seep Supply Managers
• Manage the production Tools in the region, support, assessment, etc.
• Develop and lead technical training sessions for local team.
• Establish and achieve OPEX and Capex budgets required to drive the business
• Manage vendor selection and strategic business partner relationships with third parties and drive internal production capacity and grower network development.
• Manage Vendor relations and monitor all levels of production to meet desired quality, cost and quantity standards.
• Recommend and negotiate annual contract prices in the area.
• Research potential new areas for seed production for assigned species.
• Oversee the hiring and functioning of temporary workers required during the production cycles.


Required knowledge & skills:
• Agronomist specialized in seed production with a high level of technical knowledge
• Good interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage a diverse and spread-out geographical area.
• Ability to travel up to 25%

Education & work experience required:
• BS in Agriculture or related field, or the equivalent
• Minimum of five years of experience in vegetable seed production or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year of management experience to include budget management
