Main Goal

Are you a skilled and motivated scientist with expertise in data acquisition, genetics and bioinformatics? We are currently seeking a Data Specialist to join our dynamic research team. This exciting 12-month position offers an opportunity to work on cutting-edge research in plant breeding, acquiring, and utilizing large datasets and advanced computational methods. If you have a passion for plant breeding, proficiency in scientific programming languages, and a solid background in data analysis, we want to hear from you!

Job description

Manage a greenhouse trial to collect data on plants grown under different conditions. Ensure proper data collection, including phenotyping and environmental variables measurements.
Maintain detailed metadata records associated with the sequencing and phenotyping datasets.
Ensure proper data standardization, organization, and entry accuracy to avoid any discrepancy and guarantee data consistency. Ensure compliance with data management, privacy, and intellectual property protocols.
Process and analyze large-scale genomic datasets, including genome sequences and RNAseq data, utilizing bioinformatics tools on high-performance computing systems.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of scientists to leverage each one's expertise and ensure efficient project progress.
Communicate research findings through written reports, presentations, and meeting with academic and industrial partners.

Skills: what we expect of you

A minimum of a Master's degree in Plant Genetics, Bioinformatics, (Phenotyping) Data Analysis, or a related field with mandatory 3+ years' work experiences in bioinformatics.
Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and meticulous organization in data collection and analysis.
Solid knowledge of genomics principles and applications, with a specific focus on genome sequencing, assembly and annotation.
Demonstrated experience working with large-scale genomic datasets, including genome sequences and RNAseq data.
Proficiency in scientific programming languages such as Python and R, with experience in developing scripts and pipelines for data analysis.
Ability to use bioinformatics tools and resources at the command line, with experience in working on high-performance computing systems.
Proactive, excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex scientific concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Ability to adapt to changing project requirements and work in an innovative research environment.
Proficient in English both oral and written. French speaking would be a plus.

Recruitment process

Our recruitment process consists of several stages:

- the first consists of a pre-screening of applications by Jérémy, our Talent Acquisition Manager, accompanied by future manager Kévin, to establish a shortlist of candidates for audition. A telephone pre-qualification may be carried out.

- A first interview is organized with the future manager.

- A second HR interview follows shortly afterwards.

Finally, feedback is given to the candidates. Various tests may also be considered (language, personality, etc.).
