RESEARCH & INNOVATION - BREEDING
Main Goal
Within the Hybrid Wheat program, we are looking for an apprentice hybrid wheat breeding technician. Limagrain is a major player in varietal innovation, so it is important for the company to develop research into hybrid wheat. You will have the opportunity to participate in an innovative project.
Job description
The apprentice will be an integral part of the hybrid wheat breeding team.
He/she will be involved in the various activities relating to the program, and will gain an understanding of how a breeding program operates.
He/she will have 2 main tasks relating to the production part of the program.
-The first will be to manage the maintenance of the sterile line, setting up and monitoring protocols. It will be necessary to continue developing innovative protocols to produce larger quantities of females for future hybrids.
-Secondly, the production of wheat hybrids. The challenge facing every hybrid wheat creator is to reduce production costs per hectare. The aim of the apprentice's project is to continue testing hybrid production protocols in mixtures.
In the course of his work, the apprentice will have the opportunity to discover activities such as seedling preparation (threshing, sorting, processing, counting), sowing, purification, notations and harvesting.
He or she will be invited to team meetings and will be able to make suggestions.
In addition, he/she will be able to interact with the various departments present on site to discover other activities (such as quality analysis, selection schemes, the progress of genotypes from the nursery to trials and variety development, etc.).
Skills: what we expect of you
- BTS, BUT, Licence or equivalent student
- Knowledge of agronomy, particularly plant science
- Strong interest in the world of breeding and field work
- You are curious and eager to learn about the various facets of breeding activities
- Autonomous and able to take the initiative to contribute to the continuous improvement of the breeding program
- You are rigorous and pay attention to detail.

The Verneuil l'Etang station is one of Limagrain's main research centers in Europe, bringing together 4 research teams: wheat, rapeseed, barley and protein crops, as well as an experimentation team.
In addition to their project, the apprentices will have the opportunity to discover the selection of field crop species present on the site
Recruitment process
Our recruitment process consists of several stages:
- the first consists of a pre-screening of applications by Jérémy, our Talent Acquisition Manager, accompanied by future manager Adrien, to establish a shortlist of candidates for audition.
- A first interview is organized with the future manager.
- A second HR interview follows shortly afterwards.
Finally, feedback is given to the candidates.
