Job description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: This position is responsible for all local, state and federal tax filings and reporting. This position also serves as the liaison between HM.CLAUSE, the tax advisors and the Limagrain Tax team.

This is a key position working for HM.CLAUSE, Inc. a company that specializes in vegetable seed production in over 30 countries utilizing home farms and outsourcing to growers. This position will be the primary contact for HM.CLAUSE, Inc. for the external tax advisors and for Limagrain, the French parent company of HM.CLAUSE. This position will be responsible for monitoring the tax regulations and managing monthly, quarterly and annual federal, state and local tax filings for HM.CLAUSE, Inc. This role is the liaison between HM.CLAUSE and the Limagrain Tax Team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

•Partner with the international tax advisors to prepare US and International tax returns for completeness and accuracy as well as ensure compliance with the Global Transfer Pricing policy requirements.

•Responsible for the development, implementation, and interpretation of local, state, federal and global policies as they relate to taxes and compliance. Implement strategies to minimize on a corporate tax liability in accordance with current tax laws.

•Partner with tax advisors in completing and filing various local, state and federal tax returns.

•Analyze financial statements to forecast future tax impact as part of the annual budget process.

•Identify and research tax issues as they arise and prepare written recommendation for appropriate accounting measures to ensure US GAAP and IFRS compliance.

•Facilitate completion of US GAAP and IFRS audit requirements and provide guidance to other departments on the process.

•Ad hoc reporting as required for local and international initiatives such as CARES Act, Tariff Seed Exemption, Sales and Use Tax, R&D Tax Credits and other projects as assigned.

•Responsible for the journal entries and monthly reconciliation of all tax balance sheets, income and expense accounts to include any activities related to the month-end, quarter-end and year-end tax close.

•Participate in special projects as opportunities arise and within established timeframes, take ownership of projects and follow through to completion.


Education & work experience required:

•BA/BS Degree in Accounting required
•Minimum 5 years of tax accounting experience required
•CPA, preferred
•Prior international seed company experience, desired
•Experience in a corporate tax environment, preferred
•Strong technical knowledge of Federal, State and International Tax reporting requirements
•Strong computer skills to include Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access)
•JD Edwards 9.0 or Oracle and Business Objects/Crystal experience desired
•Must be fluent in English; French and Spanish fluency a plus
