Job description

POSITION SUMMARY
The HR Manager is responsible for providing a broad range of HR support and guidance for the subsidiaries in the region, while leading a team of local HR team in the region.
Region: Mexico and CCA (Central America and Caribbean)


Provides guidance and oversees the customization of the regional policies and processes based on local needs, laws, and regulations. Directs, implements, and oversees human resources policies and activities such as recruitment, selection, hiring, training, labor and employee relations, safety, client services, organizational structure, succession planning, and relocation for all employees in the region.
Ensures harmonization of regional processes, practices, policies, and objectives specific to the HR pillars (HR Operations, Compensation & Benefits, and Organizational and People Development).


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING, OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED:

General HR
• Proactive assessment of the unit's HR-related needs, and guidance to the HR team toward an efficient and timely resolution.
• Maintain an effective level of business literacy about the business unit's financial position, its mid/long-term goals and objectives, its culture, and its performance.
• Analyse trends and metrics, implement HR development efforts as needed, identifying gaps within the local processes, and implementing all HR improvement projects to raise the level of HR local practices, processes, and procedures in SAM.
• Mentor, coach, and supervise the HR team.
• Design and orchestrate the effective recruitment, onboarding, and retention programs and processes in the region.
• Ensure the compensation system is aligned with the global compensation philosophy, follows the AMPA guidelines, and maintains internal equity while providing an effective tool to attract and retain talent.
• Ensure regulatory and labor compliance in HR practices (e.g., personnel records, payroll, employee classification, discipline, separations, social programs, health and safety, etc.). Adhere to local laws.
• Oversee the implementation and ensure the application of regional guidelines and policies.
• Support HR team in responding to inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and programs. Investigate, document, and counsel senior management on employee relations issues and guide the necessary corrective actions.
• Develop strong working relationships with management and staff; providing advice, guidance, consulting, and coaching as needed.

Mobility
• Support mobility and visa processes for the employment of foreign nationals, including permanent resident processing as needed.
• Coach managers on how to effectively utilize the appropriate relocation package and immigration options to fit their specific business needs.

Profile

• Ensure HRBP team is deploying robust mobility practices for effective short and long-term onboardings, transitions, and departures.

Training and People Development
• Ensure harmonization of key training and development AMPA efforts, such as the annual training and development cycle, leadership programs, management programs, HR 101, individual growth-development plans, and People Review training actions.
• Ensure local HR team is tracking training courses and attendance.
• Partner with managers and HRBPs to assess needs, and oversee implementation of programs and tools that enhance overall individual, team, and organizational effectiveness. Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of training programs, providing recommendations for improvement.
• Oversee the sourcing and selection of external partners, training providers, and internal departments to support the execution of training goals and initiatives.
• Partner with the Communications Department to create marketing strategies for learning opportunities, programs, and engagement programs for employees.
• Oversee the annual performance review and goals & objectives process for SAM, working with HR team and management to develop timelines, communication plan, training/development action plans, and process reporting.
• Support HR team in the preparation of their respective clients' talent reviews planning, presentations, and development plan completions.
• Support succession planning efforts. Educate on process and method for local succession reviews.
• Partner with OD on the design and implementation of engagement and retention programs.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

EDUCATION (OR EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE)
• Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business or related field.
EXPERIENCE
• Minimum 5 years of progressive Human Resources work experience, with focus on HR Operations, or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
• Experience designing, implementing, and managing HR & OD processes in LATAM.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Management Experience, preferably a multi-cultural team.
• Fluency in English and Spanish; Portuguese and/or French a plus.
• Strong computer skills to include Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
