RESEARCH & INNOVATION - RESEARCH MANAGEMENT

Main Goal

The main missions are :
1-T&T Crop portfolio management: budget, deliverable alignement & implementation, aligned to LVS strategy
2- Efficient and effective collaboration between BU & research teams

The crop lead will engage the LVS crop steering team to define crop strategy, deliverable request, resource needs, timelines, milestones, risks, while managing issues.
He/she organize, lead & follow up on the required team meetings and be accountable for appropriate and timely communication regarding project status to LVS & BU teams.
The crop Portfolio Lead is the LVS and BU teams primary resource for crop need specific matters, including the representation to the RC, Crop Committee, and BU Bilateral meetings.

Job description

-Accountable for :
-leading cross-functional execution of assigned crop activities (projects+ baseline)
- appropriate and timely communication regarding projet status and responsible for elevating to leadership issues requiring their -decisions.

-Responsible for :
-management of assigned projects through governance processes
- representing the needs in various LVS and BU meetings aligned to LVS strategy


This implies to be :
• Accountable for the transparent flow of information between BU & LVS teams:
- Accountable for the crop portfolio:
- Identify the gaps, identify our crop ambition, and ensure alignment of BU needs research projects: leads the development and implementation of the MTP within the allocated budget
- Guaranties SCR alignment & LVS ambition in research programs & leads crop “innovation strategy” definition

• Accountable for LVS T&T research crop portfolio :
-Manages crop discovery budget
- Monitors project & baseline activities advancements for the dedicated crop portfolio(s)
- Promotes, facilitates, and ensures visibility of implementation of research deliverables by crop BU teams

• Prepares & leads BU/LVS research meetings (CC, steering & bilateral) of the defined crop(s);

• “Conflict” resolution, managing expectations, and negotiation to manage prioritization resource allocation

• Dedicated coordination of strategic project

• Accountable for IP strategy deployment within in crop
- Interaction with IPD to capture LVS IP infringement by competition & follow-up actions
- Ensures protection of our inventions to enable strategic use of IP, in collaboration with the licencing & innovation lead

• LVS research team ambassador in the hosting BU

Skills: what we expect of you

Master's degree with 15+ years of experience or PhD with 10 years of experience science/technical discipline

Functional key skills:
• Regular interactions with LVS & BU team to facilitate communication & transparency of actions, trends, strategy
• Has a full understanding of LVS and BU strategies for the given crop(s)
• Understanding of the breeding & seed business requierements
• Leads the portfolio management along with the steering: ideation, project follow-up, modification, closure + baseline activities BU needs.
• Budget accountability,
• Leads & organizes BU/research meetings according to LVS guidelines
• Accountable of an equal, fair decision making & interactions : Makes sure all BUs and team members participate actively to the discussions & priority definitions
• Dedicated coordination of strategic project
• Assist project teams to communicate objectively to Steering/BUs
• Provide visibility to project teams with BU peers & facilitate interactions
• Accountable for IP strategy deployment within crop
• Ability to take the accountability within the scope of responsibilities listed in the job description
