Main Goal
Limagrain Vegetables Seeds is the leader of the global leader of the Vegetable seed business with its three business units: Hazera, HM. Clause and Vilmorin Mikado with a strong global R&D community of 1150 R&D employees, 130 breeding programs and launching over 200 new varieties per year.
Job description
- Define medium and long-term R&D strategy and objectives of the Global Research and Development Division as chair of LVS Research Committee (RC) for bringing the company to the top position from product portfolio and technology while protecting the company's intellectual property.
- Assuring the R&D division is in the front of scientific knowhow, creating freedom to operate and generate competitive technological position for the company and the Limagrain Vegetable Seed division. Validates and coordinates research activities within the organization, ensuring alignment with strategic goals, while keeping the right balance between internal programs and outsourcing
- Lead the Research Committee team. Secure full collaboration and alignment between BU R&Ds and Trait and Technology teams and with other departments to deliver a competitive of new varieties
- Establish objectives, procedures, and tools necessary to create a strong base of intellectual property covering germplasm, research, and breeding processes
- Drive continuous innovation by staying abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and market demands.
- Manage the implementation of programs, ensuring the best path is being chosen and interfacing with production and marketing functions utilizing a "speed to market" approach.
- Coordinate research collaborations with other internal teams and external partners, maintaining good contacts with national and international centers, universities, and third-party vendors or subcontractors.
- Member of the LVS executive committee
- Carry out these activities in compliance with country-specific legislation where operations are needed, and in accordance with the company's values related to environmental sustainability, employee well-being, CSR, and Corporate
- Internal working relations: all company divisions.
- External working relations: research institutions, universities, R&D companies
Skills: what we expect of you
Education:
PhD in Agronomics and/or Plant Science, Biological Science.
15 years with gradual roles in R&D management, preferably in agribusiness in the vegetable seed sector of the industry with at least 3 years’ experience in equivalent role
Required knowledge and skills:
- Experience managing R&D teams cross cultures and disciplines.
- Expanded knowledge of genetics, biotechnology, pathology, molecular analysis, genetics, and new tools and technologies.
- Extended knowledge of logical research in plant breeding, knowledge of the vegetable seed sector, and understanding of its international markets evolution and demands.
- Personal capabilities: An ideal candidate would be committed to results, a person who can combine long & short-term perspective.
- Should have high capability of interpersonal interactions with people from different cultures and background. Managerial and leadership capabilities is a must with ability to collaborate within R&D and Strategic and with Marketing teams.
