Main Goal


Vilmorin-Mikado USA is opening a new position of Accounting Manager. In this role, you will direct the accounting, tax and payroll functions of the subsidiary and you will be responsible for the company's policies, accounting practices and compliance under US GAAP and IFRS, and the maintenance of its fiscal records.

·       Responsible to protect the company assets.

·       Advisor to the operational team regarding accounting matters.

·       Government reporting, tax & compliance.

·       Supervision over general accounting and payroll.

·       Support implementation of operational best practices.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. 

A.     Management
·       Manage the personnel in the accounting department to include accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory costing, fixed assets, sales/use & property taxes, general accounting functions, royalties, intercompany transactions/reconciliation and payroll.
·       Recommend training requirements, has the duty to keep the staff at the highest level of skill necessary to meet company needs and objectives, and may recommend that personnel be hired or removed from the department.
·       Manage external relationships with auditors, outsourced payroll service, banks, tax and other consultants.
·       Support local and unit human resources, coordinate and consult with internal (including sister company) HR and Legal on various issues.

Job description

A.    Reporting & Analysis

Implement, document, and maintain adequate and effective processes to improve the close and reporting cycles to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
·      Responsible for the maintaining company systems and records for all company transactions and assets.
Oversee the preparation of work papers supporting the monthly close process and month end account balances.
Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting and related commentary.
In coordination with the FP&A Senior Analyst, assist the Unit Finance Director in establishing economic objectives and policies. This includes impairment testing analysis, transfer pricing application and follow-up, due diligence, participation with global policy development and other specifics.
·      Oversee the issuance of regular AR aging reports to the sales department and follow up on past due invoices to ensure an efficient cash collection.
·      In conjunction with our sister company and parent company, maintain minimum insurance standards for employee health, E&O, worker’s compensation, liability, and property.
·      Coordinate reporting needs of company’s legal parent.
·      Input Intercompany balances and YTD transaction summaries into BusinessObjects Financial Consolidation (SAP BFC).

B.    Transactions

Oversee the recording of journal entries (including IFRS (NF) journal entries) required to reflect the monthly activity.
Oversee the record keeping: organization and maintenance of paper & electronic files.
Review monthly accounting close process including analytical review of the monthly operating results to ensure accurate accounting records are maintained.
Supervise the accounts receivable process to ensure accuracy and expedite receipts.
Coordinate and record investments.
Supervise the accounts payable process, ensuring timely and accurate recording of expenses, liabilities, and payments.
Manage cash disbursements in accordance with disbursement policies including check signing and ACH/wire bank authorizations.
Direct and coordinate debt financing and debt service payments with parent company.
Oversee payroll activities and ensure timely and accurate payments and reporting to comply with federal and state regulations.

C.     Compliance

Oversee the preparation of workpapers supporting the annual review/audit. Coordinate the preparation of the review with the external auditors.
Oversee the preparation of workpapers supporting the annual tax return and quarterly reports. Coordinate the preparation of annual tax return and R&D credit process with outside CPA firm.
·       Complete tax planning and compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, payroll, and other applicable taxes. Ensuring accurate and timely payments.
Ensure compliance with company 401(k) requirements.
In coordination with company legal support, ensure all finance related legal documents follow regulations and corporate policies.

Education and/or Experience                                            

·       BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Finance or related major.

·       CPA certification or advanced degree preferred.

·       5+ years of experience in financial management.

·       Excellent computer skills.

·       Ten-key by touch.

·       Ability to use standard office equipment.

·       Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

·       Advanced knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS.

·       Knowledge of JD Edwards a plus.

·       Bilingual in French or Spanish language a plus.
