Function

PRODUCTION & OPERATIONS - AGRONOMIC PRODUCTION

Main Goal

Under the management of the EU Allium Seed Production Manager, you will coordinate, assign and supervise the regional seed productions that take place within Limagrain's network of farmers and at external suppliers for Allium's seed production in France and other relevant countries. The main objective of this position is to guarantee the production performance indicators (KPIs) for the region, in terms of costs, quantities and quality.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Proper planning of the production phases of material and seeds/bulbs, and timely negotiations on volumes and prices.
  • Rigorous implementation of the production strategy regarding areas, growers, risk allocation and crop placement.
  • Lead Hazera's regional production.

 

RELATIONSHIPS & ABILITIES :

  • Management of supplier and grower operations in the region – establishing and maintaining good working relationships and reliable seed production processes.
  • Develop and improve regional production to ensure operational excellence through improvements in performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Support and guide production to achieve goals and targets.
  • Timely negotiations, contracts, and payment tracking.
  • Presentation, analysis and summary of performance as required and periodically.
  • Ensure that production is carried out in accordance with the terms of the contract and company policies.
  • Coordination with authorities and other seed companies.
  • Coordination of all post-harvest activities (including shipping, cleaning, micro-cleaning, sampling, quality testing, etc.).
  • Interaction with internal interfaces.
  • Issuance of phytosanitary inspections and documents.
  • Coordination of bulb supply with the specialist from the Netherlands.
  • Manage contract payments and settlements.
  • Visits to growers and the field with regular reports on results impacting the business.
  • Professional reporting.

 

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT OF PRODUCTION RELIABILITY :

  • Propose new ideas to improve production results – continuously investigate processes and new technological opportunities.
  • Annual evaluation of the results and brainstorming on new actions to be undertaken.
  • Sharing best practices with relevant parties.

 

INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL WORKING RELATIONSHIPS :

  • Planning and control; R&D (breeders); customer service (logistics); Marketing; Seed Treatment Plant (Made and La Menitre), QC, coordination with sister companies, Legal, Production Administration, Limagrain contact points.
  • Regional suppliers and producers; designated official authorities (e.g. SEMAE, SRAL etc.).

Skills: what we expect of you

  • Diploma or certificate in agriculture. BTS confirmed or engineer.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in biennial seed production or commercial onion production.
  • Willing to travel in France, Europe and globally – deal with seasonal activity and work load.
  • Motivation for a set of both field and administrative tasks.
  • Open communicator with good interpersonal skills, able to interact with different interfaces.
  • Computer skills.
  • Strong organizational, managerial and control skills.
  • Have an action-oriented and results-oriented personality.
  • Problem-solving skills. Agility – adapting to rapidly changing environments and meeting new challenges and opportunities.
  • Sense of responsibility – commitment to results.
  • English at a professional level, basic French would definitely help for integration.

Position based in La Ménitré, France (35 minutes from Angers, 30 minutes from Saumur).
