SALES & MARKETING - MARKETING

Main Goal

As a part of the Marketing team, you will be accountable for the sales growth of our Cucurbit and Pepper species through the management of the global strategy and development of the relevant crops. Working with a team of product managers, you will own Product Management for the NAFTA and Latin America region. You will monitor market dynamics and trends and work closely with research and development (R&D), sales, and other support functions to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. You will also ensure that the product advancement and portfolio support the company’s overall strategy and goals.

Job description

Market Analysis and Crop Strategy:



  • To recommend the crop strategy for Cucurbit and Pepper crops and its execution across the company (ambition and market share targets; direction for marketing, research, seed tech, and development; action plans, follow-up, and corrective actions).

  • To provide orientation to our regional breeding programs by determining the breeding objectives for the targeted markets and product specifications at the mid and long-term levels. Support for breeding projects according to product definition.

  • Pipeline assessment and recommendation of new varieties from Breeding, into development and commercial.

  • Product definition: create and update product profile per Product Market Combination.

  • Market intelligence: to permanently show a deep and updated knowledge of the crops on your perimeter and define future trends and requests (agronomy, customers, consumers).


Product Development and Sales Support:



  • To coordinate Sales and Development teams to deliver the plan and to support business activation: developed and implemented product trial plans with breeders and regional PD teams based upon market knowledge and objectives; Assessed trial results to determine product performance and right positioning; Challenged commercial forecasts of current products.

  • To support Sales and Development teams with appropriate recommendations in terms of Go-to-market approaches, added-value pricing approaches, new concepts, commercial and technical information.

  • To take accountability on communication messages for your regional scope and to ensure suitable plans locally, to supervise their implementation in collaboration with PD and Sales Managers or the local communication team.


Portfolio Management:



  • To manage the Cucurbit and Pepper range to ensure the long-term profitability for the company: product life cycle of your scope at a worldwide level, within the objective of turnover and margin growth. To recommend the global positioning of the varieties of your scope with your marketing peer: targeted markets, rock bottom price per area, development targets in terms of countries and customers).

  • To lead and coordinate cross-functional exchanges with other departments in search of operational excellence of the portfolio: sales, breeding, seed tech, production, supply, quality control, and finance.

  • To maintain proactivity on stock management and actively participate in production release plans and excess inventory management, recommendation, and follow-up.

  • To be accountable for market requirements in terms of quality and ensure their respect through Commercial Product Quality Standards.

Skills: what we expect of you


  • Minimum a bachelor's degree in Agronomy or related field required.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in breeding, seed development or sales. 

  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time to domestic and international locations.

  • Languages: English essential, Spanish a plus. 

  • Good computer skills in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  •  Excellent communication and organizational skills along with a high level of autonomy and flexibility.

  • Capacity to adapt yourself to many different cultures and environments as well as being able to demonstrate good teamwork skills.
