A third of our employees are working in an international and interdisciplinary environment in the R&D division. In this context, the trait pathology project manager, part of the Trait & Technologies Team, will contribute to multidisciplinary projects in collaboration with, other Trait & Technologies teams (Genetics, genomics, metabolomics, bioinformatics, biostatistics), Breeding and Research Support for trait discovery and deployment in commercial breeding programs in Asia. In accordance with the Company strategy, the Trait Pathologist contributes to the definition of the most efficient strategy to address pathology trait discovery and deployment for Asian crops. In collaboration with an international multidisciplinary team including breeders and experts in Genetics, Genomics, Metabolomics, Bioanalysis and Statistics, the Trait Pathologist deciphers Pathology trait and develops efficient tools and methodologies, to improve mid and long-term efficiency of the breeding programs of the BU.
The primary responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
• To initiate, propose, develop, and implement state of the art research projects in Plant Pathology according to client needs, in a multidisciplinary environment, as a project leader or a project team member
• To be responsible for the organization and execution of assigned research projects within the framework of the project plan, budget and timeframe
• To facilitate the transfer of tools and methods designed for improving efficiency of breeding and speed to market to the research application teams
• To identify and propose external collaborations with world-class experts to accelerate trait discovery and tool development
• To develop intellectual property protection as appropriate and maintain awareness of intellectual property environment
• PhD in plant Pathology or closely related fields
• At least 5 years of successful experience. Experience in private business is a plus
• Strong understanding and expert knowledge in Plant Pathology particularly related to plant disease resistance and pathogen characterization and diversity. Demonstrated understanding of plant breeding and use of molecular markers and good knowledge in statistics, plant genetics, and plant physiology
• Fluent in written and oral English language is essential
• Requires 25% travel, both domestically and internationally
• Ability to work both independently and in a multidisciplinary and international team
