RESEARCH & INNOVATION - BREEDING

Job description

To support crop breeding activities. Position supervises all aspects of the daily breeding activities. Assist the crop breeder in conducting breeding activities, evaluation and database management. Work in close collaboration with research and operation team members as per Harmony project.


Support in field trial design, sowing/planting, evaluation and seed harvest
Manage and execute the breeding tasks
Manage breeding data base and seed inventory
Collaborate with operation team in managing the crop activities
Collaborate with plant pathologist, genotyping team in project submission, result tracking and data entry
·       Receive and distribute seeds for seed production, variety trials, product development and marketing etc as per breeder guidance


·       Works in compliance with company internal and local Health and Safety regulations


·       Define and follow work protocols and processes agreed with breeders.


·       Follow guidelines of SHIELD internal phytosanitary protocols


·       Ensure efficient use of resources and drive new technologies/innovation


Manage and Maximize the use of all resources allocated to the breeding program(s): human, technical, budget/financial

Skills: what we expect of you

Good communication skills; Self-motivated and ability to work independently, creative, innovative and self -discipline.


 


Preferably a M.Sc., Plant Breeding & Genetics, Vegetable breeding, Pathology, graduate with a minimum 0-2 year of experience. Freshers are most welcome.
