We are looking for a creative and dynamic Research Station Manager to join our Biogemma-USA Corp team, which is devoted to the field evaluation of corn and wheat events produced by genome engineering.
As a scientist and agronomist leader, you will oversee our network of field trial locations to ensure the best assessment of the GE events and you will develop the relationships with service providers and academics to implement the best phenotyping approaches mainly for disease resistance traits.
As a manager, you will guide, support, and develop the team of research associates and temporary staff to carry out the station operations. As a research station manager, you will be in charge of the facility management and administration.
Your main missions will be:
- Oversee the US and Canadian network of service providers
- Be accountable for the field activities: nurseries and field trials
- Guarantee the field trials design, data collection and analysis
- Identify and consolidate a network of external scientific collaborators and service providers
- Be responsible for regulatory compliance, notification submission, relationship with USDA/APHIS and stewardships for regulated material
- In coordination with the Genome Engineering Platform manager, allocate budget (operational expenses and Capital items) to match research needs.
- Present and report results of the GE events evaluation to the management line and to the research project leaders. and presentation, and nurseries schemes in the frame of research needs and the allocated budget
- Ensure the flow of project-relevant information within the US team and with the teams in Europe, including mains highlights to your supervisor
- Take part, when necessary, in field activities and visits
- Prepare and follow internal and external audits with the support of the department quality engineer
- Master degree or PhD with 5 years experience or more, with strong knowledge in agronomy, in particular in corn and wheat
- Relevant experience in field trial methodologies
- Quality management experience in a regulatory framework
- Good background in statistics and data analysis would be a plus
- Exposure to plant breeding and genetics would be a plus
- Excellent organization skills

This position requires travelling to various states of North America, Canada and 1 to 2 trips to Europe per year. Agronomic research and management responsibilities requires extended hours during planting, pollinating, and harvest seasons.
