PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Reporting to the Supply Chain Finance Manager, primary responsibility is lead the various financial reporting and cost accounting activities for the Modesto, CA and Nampa, ID manufacturing facilities.

POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
Responsibilities include leading the U.S. costing team in the analysis and reporting of data, related to product costs, gross margin, and inventory. Additionally, manage cost accounting activities directly and through the work of the HMC Inc. Costing Analysts. Oversee standard cost reviews and updates, and support various departments within the organization with financial reporting and analysis as needed. Provide vision and leadership to the HMC Inc. costing team and drive adoption of best practices, and the harmonization of processes by working in collaboration with the EMEA and Asia costing teams.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

•Manage the Costing Teams located in Modesto, CA and Nampa, ID.

•Oversight and management of inventory valuation, including standard cost and variance, to plan analysis related to inventory and activities in the Modesto and Nampa locations.

•Analysis of product costs and gross margin, in close partnership with all cost accounting teams across the Business Unit (BU), and in support of consolidated margin reporting for the global BU.

•Participate and provide input and vision in the development of improvements to existing company policies and procedures in the areas of item costing, cost accounting, inventory accounting, and financial reporting.

•Participation and contributions in support of further harmonization of costing and reporting processes across all manufacturing locations within the BU.

•Participation in BU and Group IT projects (i.e., JDE VSD), and implementations in the areas of product costing and inventory.

•Manage and execute month-end, quarter-end, and year-end accounting closes for cost accounting functions. Ensure timely and accurate preparation and review of accruals, journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis, management reports, and other financial analysis as required.

•Liaise with relevant and associated areas and groups within the business process to establish support, and maintain business relationships and organizational effectiveness.

•Provide support for internal and external audits.

•Provide guidance to other departments on cost and inventory accounting related matters.

•Manage and coordinate analysis of Cost of Sales, P&L variances to support planning and forecasting strategies.

•Manage and coordinate the identification and research of trends in material costs, labor costs, and other manufacturing and inventory variances.

•Undertake and/or delegate any other ad hoc duties as, and when, required.



Profile

Education & work experience required:

•BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
•Analysis, reporting and budgeting experience preferred.
•Strong software skills to include Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access) as well as ERP & Reporting systems such as JD Edwards & Business Objects.
•Advanced knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS
•Bilingual in Spanish or French a plus.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
•Direct supervision of two costing analysts.
